Deleting Data

Your data is yours. Delete any of it, or all of it, whenever you want.

These happen instantly:

Remove milk from groceries
Cancel my reminder about the meeting

These require you to reply YES:

Clear my grocery list

Figaro: Are you sure you want to clear your grocery list? This will remove all 12 items. Reply YES to confirm.

Delete my grocery list

Figaro: Delete your grocery list and all its items? Reply YES to confirm.

Forget what I told you about my doctor

Figaro: Forget that your doctor is Dr. Chen? Reply YES to confirm.

For complete data deletion, a special confirmation phrase is required to prevent accidents:

Delete everything you know about me

Figaro: This will permanently delete your entire account: all messages, lists, reminders, memories, and integrations. This cannot be undone.

To confirm, reply exactly: FIGARO FORGET ME

Delete my account

Same confirmation required: FIGARO FORGET ME

We designed this to match the consequences. Removing milk from groceries? No big deal. Deleting your entire history? That needs to be intentional.

When you delete data:

  1. It’s removed from our database — Not hidden, actually deleted
  2. Backups expire — Database backups rotate, deleted data isn’t preserved
  3. No “deleted items” folder — Once gone, it’s gone
  4. Immediate effect — Figaro won’t reference deleted data

You can also delete data through app.textfigaro.com:

  • Lists page — Delete individual items or entire lists
  • Reminders page — Delete individual reminders
  • Memories page — Delete individual memories
  • Settings — Full account deletion

To remove connected services:

Disconnect my Google Calendar

Go to Integrations → Click Disconnect

This revokes Figaro’s access and deletes the stored tokens.

If you delete your account, your phone number is no longer associated with Figaro. You could sign up again as a new user.

No. When you delete, it’s permanent. We don’t keep “just in case” copies.

Aggregate, anonymous statistics only (like “X messages sent today”). Nothing tied to your account.
